Kamala Harris

Kamala Devi Harris was born on the 20th of October 1964. She is an American politician. Kamala Devi Harris is the first female vice-president and the highest-ranking female official in U.S history. She is a senator and former US senator who represents California. Harris was born in Oakland, California, Harris graduated from Howard University and the University of California, Hastings College of the Law. Harris began her career at the Alameda County District Attorney's Office prior to her move to the San Francisco District Attorney's Office and then the City Attorney of San Francisco's office. In 2003 she was elected San Francisco District Attorney. In 2010, she was appointed Attorney General of California and was re-elected in 2014. From 2017 to 2021, Harris was the junior United States senator for California. Harris defeated Loretta Sanchez to become the first African American woman senator and the first South Asian American ever to be elected to the United States Senate. As senator, Harris fought for healthcare, federal de-scheduling and legalization of cannabis as a pathway to citizenship for undocumented immigrants and the DREAM Act which bans assault weapons. She is most famous for her sharp questions to Trump administration officials during Senate hearings.
